Frequently asked questions
Why should I buy an instrument from
Kanstul Music?
First, there are no finer brasswind instruments available. Second,
we are 100% committed to the product. This means our service can't
be beat. We stand behind you with our Try Before You Buy program
and our Kanstul Music Inc., Lifetime Warranty. You risk nothing.
You gain the best instrument and service available anywhere.
How does the "Try Before You Buy"
program work?
We simply need your credit card. We authorize the card (does not
charge it) and send you the horn. Keep it for the trial period
and if you are satisfied we charge the card. You pay for shipping
both ways if you send the instrument back. We can ship any way
you like, UPS, Fed-X or US Mail. For more information, click here.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We have many satisfied overseas customers. We make sure you
have the proper paperwork to successfully get it into your country.
We are an expert in using the proper carrier.
What is the difference between a Kanstul
instrument and other manufacturer's instruments?
Kanstul instruments resonate like no others. That's because of
the extensive knowledge handed down to my father by Mr. Reynolds
of the F.E. Olds Company. When you play any Kanstul instrument
it will make the sound resonate for you. You do not have to manipulate
it to work. That is the difference between a Kanstul and all other
brasswind instruments.
What is the difference between a student
model trumpet and a professional model?
I can't speak for other manufacturer's instruments in regard to
student vs. professional models. On our instruments I do not use
the word student but instead use the word entry-level. This is
because when you understand a tapered tube to the degree my father
does and you have the kind of craftsmanship that only paying your
dues can bring whatever you make is going to be good. However
when you go to the next level you have to outdo your last effort.
This is not easy even for my father. The advantages are subjective
to the player. That's because each player is unique and is looking
for different things. That's why you have so many different models.
If a players skill is more highly developed he will appreciate
the subtleties. A beginner will not. If your good you can make
music on anything but you will appreciate a superior instrument
and it will make your job easier and more enjoyable. That's because
you will be able to concentrate on the music and not the horn.
Or as I was told many times," It's hard enough to play a
musical instrument without giving someone a poor instrument to
play on." With our instruments you do not have to worry about
this at any level.
What is Marching Brass?
Marching Brass horns are an industry name given to a line of horns
that Zigmant Kanstul originally designed when he was with the
F.E. Olds company. We helped start the Velvet Knights Drum &
Bugle Corps in 1963. Always an innovator, he suggested to Olds
to let him design a line of brass for the marching band like the
corps, bell front, not down like a concert French horn or up like
a concert baritone. It was of course an instant success and all
the other manufactures copied. The industry dubbed the name "Marching
Brass". Kanstul is on their 3rd generation of Marching Brass
this being their finest. It is all concert quality. Many of the
nation's championship corps for the last 20 years have played
on them. You should see our 5/4 convertible tuba. Like they use
to play in John Philip Sousa's day. Except ours doesn't weigh
60 lbs like theirs did. That's why they switched to the Sousaphone.
The Kanstul only weighs 24 lbs. and is perfectly balanced. The
whole valve section comes out and turns around for a side action
concert tuba. It is an incredible piece of craftsmanship.
